The BMW B46 and B48 Engine Oil Level Dipstick Kit gives you a simple and reliable way to check oil level on engines that were never equipped with a traditional dipstick. Featured throughout our E36 B48 swap series, this kit is ideal for engine swap projects and for track cars where instant, accurate oil level verification is essential.
The installation process requires drilling and tapping the existing provision on the oil pan. The hole is opened with an 11/16 drill bit and then tapped to 3/4-16 thread. Once this step is completed the dipstick tube threads directly into the pan and provides a precise oil level reading. You can see this done in our E36 B48 Swap series!
For builders who prefer a ready to run solution, we offer prebuilt oil pans that include both the internal baffle and the installed dipstick tube. You can send in your existing pan as a core once the swap is complete.
